The Power of Systems

I was looking at a life coaching session that I had with a client yesterday, and it really made me think about the usefulness of the assumption chart and systems.

One of the underlying principles of it is: if you are not getting the results that you want, you are not using the right system.

Ultimately, you may be using a faulty system, or maybe that particular system is not designed to produce the results you are looking for.

you just need the right system

The reason thinking in systems works is that it makes things less personal. When you work through the assumption chart, from assumption to perspective, to action, you separate yourself from what is going on. Students don’t get bad grades because they are bad students. The system that they may be using to get their homework done simply might not be working. It may not be the right system to meet their needs. The same goes for entrepreneurs; people may be struggling in business because they simply aren’t using the right system.

It is not that people are bad students or bad entrepreneurs, they just have not found the right system that will get them to where they want to be.

In order to find the best system, it is important to see what types of systems have worked for people who have been successful. Once you know what types of steps others have taken and what systems have worked for them, you can design your own system to help you get there too.
