Who do you aspire to be?

Daily Insight Video

I just got done with an amazing life coach training session! I am always so excited after these classes, but today I wanted to share a great insight that came up today about the verb aspire.

This came from one of my leadership leaders who was a huge influence on my early development as a life coach. She always used to emphasize the verb aspire in order to avoid that rigid thinking that comes when you try to defend an identity.

aspire

I aspire to be a better life coach.

I aspire to be a better father.

When we frame our thinking in this way, rather than saying I want to be a good father, it leaves us open to more flexibility. It allows us to be open to building additional skills and learning more in the future.

As long as we are continuing to learn and aspiring to be better, we are on the path to being our optimal selves.
